Characters / The Yellow House 2D anime film

Ethan brushes his dark brown hair away from his glasses for the third time in two minutes. As it lands right back where it began, the 28 year old Yale law student was studying to pass the bar exam. After years of trying to live his parents rigid dreams for their only son, Ethan was about to make them the "happiest parents on the coast!" Not him. His six foot, five inch frame would "do you good in the courtroom" as his father put it, and his mother claimed he always "loved to argue". That settled it; their son would become a lawyer.

Since the death of his infant sibling twenty four years earlier, Ethan had always tried to earn his parent's love, due to the fact that he was the one who was spared. With mild handicaps, Jonah had gone with Ethan to the ocean's edge every afternoon since Ethan could remember. Thinking his brother was digging through the sand to produce the best shells for their collection, Ethan realized Jonah couldn't yell for help. That fateful day was something repressed deep in the recesses of Ethan's mind. He felt responsible for Jonah's death because he couldn't get help quick enough. He'd always felt responsible.

Sarah, a traveling photo journalist was the 'brain" of the group. In spite of Ethan's career path, Sarah was the one who aced every test, produced the best science projects and could solve math problems with a throw of her head. Recently returning from Tanzania, East Africa, Sarah's wildlife pictures were gaining the attention of National Geographic and other well-known publications. It was only a matter of time before her by-line was attached to some of the most popular magazine and tour brochures.

Sarah had secretly been in-love with Ethan since they were in junior high school. A timid girl with mousy brown hair and dark glasses, the effort to spend time and energy, like the pretty, more popular girls put into their hair and makeup wouldn't have helped Sarah, or at least she didn't feel it would. With her plain clothes and quiet demeanor, the "girl next door" relationship she had with Ethan was as close as she thought she'd every come to having a boyfriend. Realizing there was more to life than what she knew in Boone, North Carolina, Sarah left right after graduation, never to return; at least she thought.

Whitney Hawk, an aspiring painter had been eating bread and water for the past ten years and was not eager to arrive for the reunion that would bring her face to face with the failure she'd made of her life. Beautiful and popular in high school, Whitney's "Hollywood" looks wasn't paying the bills and along with her co-captain from the high school cheerleading squad Celeste Ryan, Whitney had dreams of high school lasting her entire life. At least Celeste had further her education. Owning her own hair salon, Celeste wasn't aging well and most thought she looked older than she was. Still, she was the only one who had stayed in Boone, going through about every bad relationship there was to be had in their small town. Miles Timson and Lou Riley, (short for Louise)the real estate agent and loan specialist, had dated in high school, had a great break up (a couple of times) and maintained their friendship over the miles (Miles in Charlotte and Lou one town over) through business ventures, each helping the other meet the needs of their clients.
